Tissa Jayasinghe picks up major award at inaugural golf day

Tissa Jayasinghe was the inaugural winner of the Sri Lanka Sports Association’s golf tournament played at the Oxley Golf Club on January 30.

The tournament was played over a single stableford format and Jayasinghe won the 18-hole division, with Chaminda Jayasinghe and Hiruna Sigera joint runners-up.

There were 24 golfers, aged between 12 and 75, with 20 players competing over 18 holes and four over nine holes.

Plans are under way for a winter tournament.

18 Holes: Winner Tissa Jayasinghe. Joint runners-up Chaminda Jayasinghe, Hiruna Sigera.

Closest to pin on the 3rd hole, par 3, 153m: Winner Shafraz Hameed.

Closest to the pin on the 7th hole, par 3, 116m: Winner Chaminda Jayasinghe.

Best nett stableford score on all par 3 holes:  Joint winners Tissa Jayasinghe and Shan Nadarajah.

Best stableford score on 4 hidden holes, 2 from front and 2 from back: Winners 4- Hafi Abdeen, Hiruna Sigera, Tissa Jayasinghe and Chaminda Jayasinghe.

9 holes: Winner Nalaka Rajakaruna.
