Sri Sumangala wins third title at SLSAQ’s Carnival of Cricket

Sri Sumangala cricketers celebrate their third victory in the annual Carnival of Cricket conducted by the SLSAQ.

Sri Sumangala Old Boys team emerged winners for the third time at the 7th Carnival of Cricket conducted by the Sri Lankan Sports Association of Queensland in April.

Sri Sumangala defeated Ananda College Old Boys by 21 runs in the final.

Vikings won the clubs division.

The two-day carnival was held on the Whites Hill Reserve cricket grounds in Camp Hill. The event was well attended, with Calamvale Ward Councillor Angela Owen the chief guest and the Hon. Consul for Sri Lanka in Queensland, Anton Swan, guest of honour.

The Café 299 food truck catered for players and spectators.

The results:

Winners Schools final: Sri Sumangala 105/4 in 7 overs defeated Ananda 84/3 in 7 overs.

Winners Clubs final: Vikings 66/3 in 6.5 overs defeated Wolf Pack 65/5 in 7 overs.

Best Bowler: Dilruwan Perera – Sri Sumangala                                

Best Fielder: Vidu Jagoda Arachchi
