Carnival of Cricket, Oct 5-6: Playing conditions released

Carnival time is here again.

The fifth annual Carnival of Cricket, conducted by the Sri Lanka Sports Association of Queensland, will be held on October 5 and 6 at the Whites Hill Reserve Cricket Ground, Camp Hill.

Fourteen teams are expected to take part in the two divisions – schools and open clubs. See general conditions and venue map below.

Last year, the carnival generated a good turnout of spectators over the two days. Sri Sumangala and Mansfield Lions emerged champions in their respective divisions.

Sri Sumangala played Ananda in the final of the Schools division. Sri Sumangala chased down Ananda’s 5 for 65 (7 overs), winning in the final ball to total 3 for 68. In the Open (Clubs) division, Mansfield Lions had a thrilling win by scoring 66 for the loss of one wicket in 6.2 overs after Wolf Pack totalled 65 in 6.3 overs.

General Conditions

A. Registration of Teams in SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2019

SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2019 sub-committee will invite teams for selection and will be responsible for approving teams.

SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2019 sub-committee will inform the selection process outcome to the main committee.

 Confirm the team participation by 16th of August 2019.

 The nomination of teams with a maximum of 11 players are to be submitted to SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2019 sub-committee by 30/August/ 2019 via email coc@slsaq.com.au with the registration fee of $350.00 to the following Bank Account.

B. Player Eligibility to take part in SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2019

 Player MUST be a member of a registered team in SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2019.

 Player(s) MUST be a Resident of Queensland

o If needed a COPY of their DRIVER’S LICENCE will be requested by SLSAQ Cricket Sub-Committee along with THE TEAM REGISTRATION FORM.

 Player(s) nominations to be submitted to SLSAQ Cricket Sub-Committee before 06/September/ 2019.

 A player CAN NOT play in BOTH Open/Club Division and Old School Boys Division.

CAllocation of Teams and Grounds:

Draw will be held on 22/September/ 2019 at Mansfield Function Centre, 181 Wecker Road, Mansfield at 5:30pm in the presence of Secretary SLSAQ, SLSAQ Cricket Sub-Committee and captains of each registered team.

Old School Boys Division

o Ten (10) teams.

o Two (2) Groups A and B – five (5) teams in each Group

  • Group A: A1, A2, A3, A4 and A5
  • Group B: B1, B2, B3, B4 and B5

o Group A in Ground 1 and Group B in Ground 2 (Whites Hill Reserve, Synthetic).

o Min of 4 games per team.

o First two teams in each group A and B will move into Semi-Finals stage.

 

Open/Club Division

o Six (6) teams.

o Two (2) Groups C and D – Three (3) teams in each Group

  • Group C: C1, C2 and C3
  • Group D: D1, D2 and D3

o Both Group C and D in Ground 3 (Whites Hill Reserve, Turf).

o Min 4 games per team.

o First two teams in each group C and D will move into Semi-Finals stage.

D. Prize Money and Presentation

Old School Boys Division

Winner – “PRIZE money to be advised” and a Shield.

Each player of the winning team will receive a medal

2nd Place – “PRIZE money to be advised”.

Each player of the 2nd place team will receive a medal

Best Batsman (Final) – Trophy

Best Bowler (Final) – Trophy

Open/Club Division

Winner – “PRIZE money to be advised” and a Shield

Each player of the winning team will receive a medal

2nd Place – “PRIZE money to be advised”

Each player of the 2nd place team will receive a medal

SLSAQ Prize Presentation

Sunday, 6th October, 2019 Venue: Whites Hill Reserve (Boundary Road, Camp Hill) – 3.30pm -4.30pm.

E. Captain (and ONLY The Captain) from each team must ‘REPORT‘ to the Tournament Match Referee prior to the commencement of the tournament BY 7.30 am for 8:00am start to complete the tournament registration process.

F. Tournament Match Referee will be stationed at the ‘Command Centre’ located near the Whites Hill Reserve Cricket Club House.

G. Any dispute before the start of the game should be reported to the Tournament Match Referee ONLY by the Captain(s) of each team. Referee’s decision once taken, will be FINAL.

H. Any dispute during the game will be dealt with by the Umpire(s) along with the Tournament Match Referee, whose decision once taken will be Final.

I. Any dispute after the game to be reported to the Chairman of the Cricket Sub-Committee, whose decision once taken will be Final. (Note: Decision could be after the Event).

J. In the event of rain interruptions to play reduced over basis shall be agreed by all team Captain(s). Continuous rain will be subject to Umpires, Ground Staff and Tournament Match Referee’s decision. The final decision will rest with the SLSAQ Cricket Sub-Committee.

K. Any dispute on the day as to the eligibility of a player or players, if found to be unresolved prior to the match being started, the Tournament Match Referee after informing and confirming with the Chairman of the Cricket Sub-Committee can request the Player or Players be withdrawn from the game and if no further confirmation is forthcoming, will be withdrawn from the Tournament.

L. SUBMISSION OF AN UNLISTED PLAYER WILL RESULT IN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION OF THE TEAM FROM THE TOURNAMENT.

M. DRESS CODE

 Teams can wear either WHITE SHIRT and/or WHITE PANTS or CUSTOMISED COLORED SPORTS WEAR.

 Please avoid wearing RED CUSTOMISED SPORTS WEAR.

All Schools and Clubs wearing customised coloured clothing need to send a photo(s) of their Logo(s) {if any to appear on the clothing] to the Chairman Sub-Committee for prior Approval.

NOT adhering to these RULES, will DISQUALIFY the Team(s) from taking part in the tournament.

 The footwear must suit the grassed pitches and outfield conditions. Please NO THONGS, NO SHORTS, AND NO FANCY OUTFITS to be worn by Player(s) participating in the Tournament.

CLUB Team(s) are MANDATORY to wear SPIKES at all time while playing on the TURF GROUND.

N. All participants agree to follow the Rules of Carnival of Cricket as set by the Association and further all participants agree to abide by the rules of the competition and the constitution of the Association and participants shall not act in any manner which causes any detriment or harm to the association.

O. No participant or individual is allowed to display any form of advertising without written prior approval of the Association. The Association reserves the right to stop/ ban unwarranted/unauthorised/illegal advertising in the form of display or broadcasting whatsoever material or content that could be likely to harm the spirit of the game or event.

P. Advertising mean flags, logos on shirts or pants.

Q. The management committee of the Association reserves the right to evict or reject any team from this tournament that breaches the Rules of the Carnival or spirit of the Carnival or the advertising Rule or Rules of the Association or team or individual that makes political/racist/sexist or engages in discriminatory conduct or statement and the Association is the final Arbiter on these matters and will not entertain any correspondence thereafter.

R. This Carnival is strictly an amateur and social event therefore all persons participating do so at their own risk. The Association takes no responsibility for injury/death incurred whilst participating in the Carnival.

S. All participants must at all time abide by the laws of Queensland and follow and abide by directions given by any Officer of the Queensland Police Service present at the venue.
