Aussie cricket’s incoming CEO gets a bat in Galle Fort match

Cricket Australia’s CEO-in-waiting Kevin Roberts joins the lads for a hit on the Galle Fort.

Kevin Roberts is a cricket enthusiast. He was holidaying in Sri Lanka with his family recently. While in Galle, they were walking around the Fort when a six landed close to them. Kevin picked up the ball and joined the lads to play cricket.

The locals had little idea they were playing with one of the most influential men in Australian cricket.

Kevin Roberts is the Chief Operating Officer in Australian Cricket. He will succeed James Sutherland as CEO of Cricket Australia in a fortnight. Kevin is the non-striker in the picture. He later wrote to S. Skandakumar, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Australia: “Another example of how cricket can bring communities together around the world.”

Australia has been a close ally of Sri Lanka in cricketing matters and let’s hopes the likes of Skandakumar and Roberts will help develop the relationship further. (Source: The Island, October 8, 2018)
