The Sri Lanka Sports Association’s 11th anniversary August Rocks dinner-dance was a roaring success, with more than 240 guests enjoying a night to remember at the Mansfield Tavern on August 10.
SLSAQ is renowned for bringing popular bands from Sri Lanka to perform at its dinner-dances, and this year was no exception with Rock This Country taking the stage. The five-member band stole the show by bringing such an incredible energy that engaged the crowd and kept all on the dance floor the entire night.
The high-class music was matched by delicious food, prepared and presented by Thilani Catering, and a spirit of camaraderie among supporters of the association.
SLSAQ president Prasad Kodikara said the night was enjoyed by all and the organisers had received many messages of congratulations.
“It was an absolute honour to have the support of Business Development Manager for Cricket Australia Louise Jeffs and the Queensland State Sales Manager Lachlan Begg,” Prasad said.
“We also had the following distinguished guests attend this function: chief guest Cr Angela Owen, guests of honour Consul-General for Sri Lanka in NSW and Queensland Lal Wickrematunge and honorary consul for Sri Lanka in Queensland Anton Swan.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Sunil Gooneratne who took the honours for the annual SLSAQ award for community service. On behalf of the SLSAQ committee, I sincerely thank all who attended, which contributed for a fabulous night, and hope to see you all again next year!”
