August Rocks: Revised line-up adds more versatility to hot act

Get set to be rocked at the SLSAQ’s 11th annual dinner-dance at the Mansfield Tavern on August 10.

August Rocks will feature up and coming Sri Lankan band Rock This Country, a group that has been receiving rave reviews in Sri Lanka and overseas. The band possesses a seamless repertoire and the versatility to soothe the audience with songs from artists such as Patsy Cline, Eagles, Lionel Richie, Kenny Rogers, Olivia Newton John, Fleetwood Mac, Carole King, Bellamy Brothers and more, or lift the tempo for a roof-raising party.

And, as the night wears on, Rock This Country can roll out the all-time baila favourites to keep you dancing well beyond midnight.

Formed in 2016, the band has notched up a keen following through regular Colombo gigs and high-profile New Year’s Eve dances.

The group, fronted by lead female vocalist Terry Bertus, has had a change in line-up with Dexter Batcho, Ashan de Silva, William Jayawardena and Ruwan Perera unable to tour because of work commitments. Viraj Perera (band leader), Danushka Jayesekera, Christopher Dhason and Nilantha Ariyaratne complete the line-up. The inclusion of the new members has given the band more versatility and experience.

Drummer Christopher Dhason previously played with the hot band Wildfire, guitarist and vocalist Danushka Jayasekera has toured Australia with the talented group Aquarius, and Nilantha Ariyaratne has many years of performing as guitarist and vocalist with top bands.
