10th Anniversary Big Bash dance: Flaming good night had by all

The Sri Lanka Sports Association of Queensland celebrated its 10th anniversary milestone with a sizzling dinner-dance at the Mansfield Tavern on February 24, 2018.

The high-energy Sri Lankan band Flame struck up some hot numbers to have the 300 guests dancing the night away.

It was Flame’s sixth appearance in Brisbane as the band members have been regulars at the SLSAQ’s annual fundraising dinner dances. The night was supplemented by a scrumptious buffet to satisfy the dancegoers’ food cravings.

Chief guests on the night were the Hon. Consul for Sri Lanka in Queensland, Anton Swan, and his wife Bronwen. The night also featured a special award for past president Jayantha Pathirikorale to honour his outstanding contribution to the association, charity work and support of the local community.

SLSAQ president Prasad Kodikara thanked all the attendees, past presidents, management committee and the sponsors for their support and generosity

There were a number of prizes given away, including two return tickets to Singapore, compliments of Emirates Airlines; a weekend away with a new Audi to drive sponsored by Audi Centre Springwood, and five-star accommodation in Sri Lanka sponsored by Cruise and Travel Centre Springwood.

Look out for news of the association’s next dinner dance tentatively set for next February.
