Cricket Carnival 2018 under way this weekend

Fourteen teams will take part in the fourth annual Carnival of Cricket to be conducted by the Sri Lanka Sports Association of Queensland at the Whites Hill Reserve, Camp Hill, on September 8 and 9, 2018.

It will be an eight-a-side competition, with each team allotted seven overs. There are seven teams in the schools’ old boys division and seven in the open division. Each team will play six matches.

Schools teams: Nalanda, Ananda, Sri Sumangala, Royal, Maliyadeva, Dharmaraja and Trinity.

Open teams: Stoneville CC, Ellalan, Brizzy Lankans, Tuskers, New Stars, Mansfield Lions and Wolf Pack.

The carnival begins at 8am on Saturday and will continue on Sunday, with the prize presentation at 3pm. There will be catering on the ground.

The tournament has been organised by the cricket sub-committee comprising Iyan De Abrew, Kalum de Silva, Nalaka Rajakaruna, Laksitha Gajasinghe, Uwan Porage, Avanka Peiris and Kamal Wanigasooriya.

General Conditions

Clause:

  1. All participants agree to follow the Rules of Carnival of Cricket as set by the Association and further all participants agree to abide by the rules of the competition and the constitution of the Association and participants shall not act in any manner which causes any detriment or harm to the association.
  2. No participant or individual is allowed to display any form of advertising without written prior approval of the Association. The Association reserves the right to stop/ ban unwarranted/unauthorised/illegal advertising in the form of display or broadcasting whatsoever material or content that could be likely to harm the spirit of the game or event.
  3. Advertising mean flags, logos on shirts or pants.
  4. The management committee of the Association reserves the right to evict or reject any team from this tournament that breaches the Rules of the Carnival or spirit of the Carnival or the advertising Rule or Rules of the Association or team or individual that makes political/racist/sexist or engages in discriminatory conduct or statement and the Association is the final Arbiter on these matters and will not entertain any correspondence thereafter.
  5. This Carnival is strictly an amateur and social event therefore all persons participating do so at their own risk. The Association takes no responsibility for injury/death incurred whilst participating in the Carnival.
  6. All participants must at all time abide by the laws of Queensland and follow and abide by directions given by any Officer of the Queensland Police Service present at the venue.

 

Registration of Teams in SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2018.

SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2018 sub-committee will invite teams

for selection and responsible for approving teams.

*SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2018 sub-committee will inform the

selection process outcome to the main committee.

*Confirmation of the team participation by 31 July 2018.

*The nomination of teams with the player’s names (max 11)

should be submitted to SLSAQ Carnival of Cricket 2018 subcommittee

by 15th August 2018 via

email coc@slsaq.com.au with the registration fee of $350.00

deposited to the SLSAQ’s nominated bank account.

*A player CANNOT play in BOTH Open/Club Division and Old

School Boys Division

*Draw will be held on 19 August 2018 at Mansfield Function Centre,

181 Wecker Road, Mansfield, at 6pm in the presence of Secretary

SLSAQ, SLSAQ Cricket Sub-Committee and captains of each

registered team.

Open/Club Division:

*Draw will be held on 26 August 2018 at Mansfield Function Centre,

181 Wecker Road, Mansfield at 6pm in the presence of Secretary

SLSAQ, SLSAQ Cricket Sub-Committee and captains of each

registered team.

 

*Old Boys School Division (Subject to change if the number of teams

increase)

* Eight (8) teams

* Two (2) Groups A and B – Four (4) teams in each Group

* Group A: A1, A2, A3 and A4

* Group B: B1, B2, B3 and B4

* Group A in Ground 1 and Group B in Ground 2 (Whites Hill

Date: Sunday, 9 September 2018

Venue: Whites Hill Reserve (Boundary Road, Camp Hill)

Time: 3.30pm-4.30pm.

  1. Captain (and ONLY) from each team must ‘REPORT‘ to the Tournament

Match Referee prior to the commencement of the tournament BY 7.30

am for 8:00am start to complete the tournament registration process.

Tournament Match Referee will be stationed at the ‘Command Centre’

located near the Whites Hill Reserve Cricket Club House.

  1. Any dispute before the start of the game should be reported to the

Tournament Match Referee ONLY by the Captain(s) of each team whose

decision once taken will be Final.

  1. Any dispute during the game will be dealt with by the Main Umpires

along with the Tournament Match Referee whose decision once taken

will be Final.

Any dispute after the game will be reported to the Chairman of the

Cricket Sub-Committee whose decision once taken will be Final. (Note:

Decision could be after the Event)

  1. In the event of rain interruptions to play reduced over basis shall be

agreed by all teams. Continuous rain will be subject to Umpires, Ground

Staff and Tournament Match Referee’s decision. The final decision will

rest with the SLSAQ Cricket Sub-Committee.

  1. Any dispute on the day as to the eligibility of a player or players, if found

to be unresolved prior to the match being started, the Tournament

Match Referee after informing and confirming with the Chairman of the

Cricket Sub-Committee, can request the Player or Players be withdrawn

from the game and if no further confirmation is forthcoming, from the

Tournament.

  1. SUBMISSION OF AN UNLISTED PLAYER WILL RESULT IN AUTOMATIC

DISQUALIFICATION OF THE TEAM FROM THE TOURNAMENT.

  1. DRESS CODE

*Teams can wear either a WHITE SHIRT and a WHITE PANTS or

CUSTOMISED COLORED SPORTS WEAR. Please try to avoid RED

COLOR CUSTOMISED COLORED SPORTS WEAR

*The footwear must suit the grassed pitches and outfield

conditions. Please No thongs, No shorts, No fancy dresses for the

players while participating in the games.
